Professor and Research Director, Emergency Medicine

Dr. Robert A. De Lorenzo, MD, MSM, MSCI, FACEP– Professor, Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Emergency Medicine at UT Health San Antonio,  Faculty Associate, Military Health Institute (MHI), UT Health San Antonio. Adjoint Faculty, Joint Graduate Program in Biomedical Engineering, University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and UT Health San Antonio. Adjoint Faculty, Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design, Department Mechanical Engineering, UTSA. Board certified in emergency medicine and an active clinician. Biomedical engineer and co-inventor of medical devices to help clear the airway. Authored two textbooks in combat casualty care and emergency medical services and published over 200 scientific papers, medical articles, and textbook chapters. PI of a large, multicenter DoD funded clinical trial of open fractures. Co-PI of the REACH study of combat airway performance and primary and co-author on numerous airway management papers. A retired Army combat veteran with more than 25 years’ military experience. Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and past President of the Government Services Chapter of ACEP. Senior Associate Editor for Annals of Emergency Medicine, the specialty's premier journal, and editorial board member for Military Medicine, and Prehospital & Disaster Medicine.
