Jessica Crane, LP, CCP
Cardi-Pulmonary Perfusionist-Senior
Mrs. Jessica Crane was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Her love of cardiothoracic surgery began at an early age when she would visit her father, also a perfusionist, at The Texas Heart Institute to observe surgeries from the observation dome. She was intrigued by the many interesting things she saw there.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Applied Learning and Development from The University of Texas at Austin in 2003. Mrs. Crane was a pre-K and Kindergarten teacher for several years.
She then attended and graduated from perfusion school at Texas Heart Institute in 2011. She has been employed at Duke University Hospital and was part of a large private practice group in Austin Texas. Her experience includes complex adult cardiac surgery and liver and lung transplantation.
Mrs. Crane joined the UT Health Cardiothoracic Surgery Department in the fall of 2016. She is now able to combine her love of teaching and perfusion by mentoring perfusion students from UT Health Houston. She looks forward to expanding her clinical skill set in the coming years by attending surgical first assist school to specialize in saphenous vein harvesting. In her free time outside of work, she enjoys hiking with her loving husband and young son.
