Gretchen A. Clum, MA, MS, PHD

Associate Professor

Dr. Gretchen Clum is the Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Health, Behavior, and Society at the Kate Marmion School of Public Health at UT San Antonio. Dr. Clum recently held the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Social, Behavioral, and Population Sciences at the Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine at Tulane University. She also served as the Associate Dean for Academic Programs, where she helped develop programs, partnerships, and pipelines for graduate programs, and served as the program director for the online DrPH. Dr. Clum also previously served as the department's Interim Chair for two years and as program director of the MPH in Social, Behavioral, and Population Sciences. Her research has focused on understanding links between mental health and health behaviors with the goal of developing and testing community-informed and evidence-based interventions to improve health outcomes for underserved populations. Most recently, she completed an NIH-funded R34 grant assessing the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of a just-in-time adaptive intervention addressing stress and coping in people with HIV and histories of violence. Dr. Clum has taught courses on health behavior theory, program planning, maternal and child health, and the DrPH Integrative Learning Experience course.
