Dr. Chahal is the Steven Schenker Distinguished Professor of Medicine (Tenure) and Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Human Nutrition at University of Texas Health San Antonio. Previously, Dr. Chahal was at Digestive Disease Institute at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where she served as the Director of Advanced Endoscopy Training and Lead for Interventional Endoscopic Ultrasound. She completed her Internal Medicine residency, Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship and Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. Her area of clinical expertise is Advanced Endoscopy with a particular focus on interventional endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP.
She has published widely (>140 publications) and is a sought-after speaker at national and international CME courses and as visiting professor. She has chaired several committees of national societies including ACG and ASGE. Currently, she is serving as a chair of ASGE membership committee, Vice chair of ERCP SIG and member of AGA endoscopy council. She is also recognized as an exemplary educator and is active at a national level on education committees for the ACG,AGA and ASGE. She has published extensively on the development of core curricula for
the training of GI fellows and advanced endoscopy fellows and has mentored more than 40 trainees many of whom are national leaders in gastroenterology, over the course of career.

l. Education: Member, clinical competency committee and Education Committee. Devised new evaluation forms for GI fellows and reviewed and implemented the comprehensive evaluations for fellows
2. Core faculty, GI fellowship, responsible for education, core curriculum of fellows and residents and part of annual interview process
3. Lead GI department Grand Round Series: Secured funds to sponsor faculty for GI department Grand Rounds
4. Started PB Live in collaboration with UPMC. A monthly case based educational webinar series with >15 national and international PB centers of excellence as participants.
5. Served as a mentor to> 45 residents, fellows and junior faculty. My involvement as a course director and chair of committees in the national organization gives me the opportunity to include and advocate for my colleagues in advanced section and department for speaking, moderating and teaching role in the meetings and courses.
