Abigail Cain, MD

Dr. Abigail Cain achieved academic excellence, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Texas at Austin in 2010. She furthered her education by earning a Certificate in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2012.
In 2017, Dr. Cain completed her medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, concurrently obtaining a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Texas at Houston.
She then completed her residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where she served with distinction as the administrative chief resident, graduating in 2021. Dr. Cain continued her advanced training by completing a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at the University of Texas at Austin in 2023. Following her fellowship, she returned to San Antonio to join the faculty at UT Health San Antonio, where she is committed to educating future physicians and offering exceptional patient care.
Dr. Cain is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and has a diverse range of clinical interests, including:
· Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery: Utilizing cutting-edge techniques for improved patient recovery.
· Adolescent Gynecology: Addressing the unique health challenges faced by young women.
· Chronic Pelvic Pain and Abnormal Uterine Bleeding: Focusing on effective diagnosis and treatment strategies.

Dr. Cain’s research interests encompass endometriosis and investigating patient-centered outcomes following treatment. Her commitment to advancing women's health through research, education, and innovative surgical practices positions her as a leader in the field.
