UT Health San Antonio

Cora S. Brown, MSN, RN, CMSRN

Assistant Professor/Clinical

VA DEU Coordinator

I joined UT Health San Antonio School of Nursing as an Assistant Professor/Clinical in 2023. I have a strong clinical background in medical-surgical acute care settings. I received my MSN in Nursing Education from the University of Phoenix in 2017 and my BSN at UT Health San Antonio in 2010.  I started my academic career at the Audie Murphy VA Hospital as a DEU Lead Teacher for 3 years and UT Health San Antonio Adjunct Faculty for the VA DEU Adult 1 clinical course for 6 years. AT UT SON, I teach clinicals for Health Assessments, Foundation, Adult 1, and Immersion. I also serve as the VA DEU Coordinator, the VA Immersion Coordinator, and UT SON Immersion Course Coordinator.

I bring a passion for student-centered learning, clinical excellence, and professional growth to the academic environment. Leveraging my clinical expertise, I create supportive and engaging learning experiences that promote critical thinking, evidence-based practice, and compassionate care. I am committed to cultivating inclusive classroom and clinical settings where diverse learners feel empowered to succeed. Through early contributions to curriculum development, student mentorship, and collaboration with experienced faculty, I am laying a strong foundation for a long-term academic career focused on preparing the next generation of professional nurses. My ongoing goal is to evolve into a transformative educator who contributes to academic scholarship, promotes nursing excellence, and positively impacts health outcomes through teaching, service, and leadership.
