Ian Barron, DPM, FACFAS is a board-certified podiatric surgeon with certification in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery. He specializes in complex foot and ankle deformity correction, including bunions, flatfoot reconstruction, Charcot neuroarthropathy, post-traumatic deformity, ankle and hindfoot arthritis, sports medicine and complex fracture care. He completed his surgical residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. His clinical practice emphasizes precise biomechanical correction, restoration of alignment, and durable reconstruction aimed at optimizing long-term function and outcomes.
Dr. Barron serves as Associate Residency Director for the Podiatric Surgery Residency at UT Health San Antonio and is faculty in the UT Limb Preservation Fellowship, where he contributes to advanced training in complex reconstruction and multidisciplinary limb salvage. He is actively involved in resident education, surgical mentorship, and academic leadership. He is also a recognized thought leader in foot and ankle surgery, collaborating with industry partners on education, research, and innovation related to reconstructive techniques, fixation strategies, and emerging technologies. Dr. Barron regularly lectures, publishes, and presents nationally, contributing to the advancement of deformity correction and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery while maintaining a comprehensive approach that includes limb salvage and diabetic foot care when clinically indicated.
