Mohammed Imran Aslam, MD, FACC

Interventional Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant

Dr. Aslam is an Interventional and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiologist. He graduated from medical school from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio with a Distinction in Research. During his time at UTHSCSA he was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Medical Fellows Grant and conducted a year research fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) where he further honed his skillset as a Physician-Scientist. He then went on to complete his internship and residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Osler Medical Training Program where he discovered his love for clinical cardiology. He went on to complete his fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at Johns Hopkins during which time he engaged in benchtop research trying to better understand the molecular mechanisms of Right Ventricular Dysfunction (RVD) in human heart failure under the mentorship of Dr. David Kass. Given his interest in advanced heart failure as well cardiogenic shock and mechanical circulatory support devices, Dr. Aslam went on to complete his fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at Johns Hopkins. During this time, Dr. Aslam published several research studies as lead author and achieved national recognition for his research in Right Ventricular Dysfunction. He is interested in continuing his research in RVD In human heart failure at UTHSCSA and clinically hopes to focus on developing a high quality mechanical circulatory support program at every level to help care for this fragile patient population. Dr. Aslam is passionate about caring for patients with both ischemic and non-ischemic heart disease and his goal is to help expand the heart failure program to serve the needs of the San Antonio and South Texas area.
