Alaq Al-Abayechi, MD
Assistant Professor/Clinical
Dr. Alaq Al-Abayechi is a published Hospitalist who joined UT Health San Antonio in September 2024 as an Assistant Professor/Clinical. She earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Baghdad College of Medicine in 2017, where she graduated with Highest Honors, before going on to complete her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio in July 2024. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Alaq Al-Abayechi has served her community as part of many volunteer organizations including The Pride Community Clinic and the American Red Cross; she is also the recipient of numerous awards including the "Most Compassionate Resident Award" (2023), the "Lawrence Endowment Award for Excellence in Research" (2023), "Most Compassionate Intern Award" (2022), and the "Outstanding Medical Student Honorary Medal" (2017). Dr. Al-Abayechi is a member of several professional organizations including the Society of Hospital Medicine, American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, and the Iraqi Medical Association.
