Associate Professor/Clinical
Dr. Joseph Agnew is a published, board-certified Associate Professor/Clinical providing Hospitalist services with UT Health San Antonio at the South Texas Veterans' Healthcare System, where he also acts as the Director of the Observation/Short Stay Unit, since 2018. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 2015 before going on to complete his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio in 2018.
Dr. Agnew specializes in Rural Medicine/Health and serves as the Medical Director of El Campo Memorial Hospital. His professional interests include rural medicine, hospital medicine procedures, critical care, protocol development, patient safety, quality improvement, resource management and efficiency, length of stay optimization, patient communication and compliance, resident wellbeing and burnout prevention, and medical education. He was awarded Cleveland Clinic's "Resident of the Month Award" in December 2015.
