Dr. Jeffrey Foster grew up in Warren, Ohio, graduating with honors from Warren Western Reserve High School in 1977. He attended University of Cincinnati obtaining his BS in Biology in 1981, graduating Summa Cum Laude. His last year of undergraduate training was combined with his first year of Medical School, also at the University of Cincinnati, from which he graduated with honors in 1984 (MD). He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society in 1980 and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society in 1983. Dr. Foster trained in Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital from 1984-86, then in Diagnostic Radiology from 1986-90 at the University of Cincinnati Hospital. Dr Foster completed his subspecialty training as Chief Fellow in Pediatric Radiology in 1991 at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He has worked as a senior pediatric radiology faculty at children's hospitals in Jacksonville, FL, Kansas City, MO, and Phoenix, AZ, and as Chief of Pediatric Radiology at the University of Wisconsin Children's Hospital in Madison, WI, Kosair Children's Hospital and University of Louisville, KY, and now UT San Antonio/University Hospital since 2017. Dr. Foster also has spent several years in training and practice in Radiology Benefits Management as Medical Director of Radiology for Evicore Healthcare of Bluffton, SC. He has done additional training in Interventional Radiology and Pediatric Cardiac Radiology, although he no longer performs interventional procedures. His practice now is exclusively in pediatric radiology, with particular interests in imaging of newborns and children's hearts.
Dr. Foster is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology (1990 lifetime certification), with an ABR Certificate of Added Qualifications in Pediatric Radiology (first obtained 1995, renewed 2014).
Dr. Foster is the Section Head of Pediatric Radiology within the Department of Radiology at University Hospital and for UT Health San Antonio, and Associate Professor of Radiology for University of Texas Health Sciences Center San Antonio - Long School of Medicine.
Dr. Foster is a member of the Society for Pediatric Radiology and the American College of Radiology.
Dr. Foster has two adult children and one teenage son, as well as one grandson. He enjoys family, photography, music, cycling, fishing, especially flyfishing, as well as coaching his youngest son in his baseball endeavors.
