Dr. Lyle Hood leads the Medical Design Innovations Laboratory, whose research focuses on developing innovative medical devices for improved drug delivery, emergency intervention, and photothermal therapies.
Our research laboratory is located in the BioScience and Engineering building (BSE 2.212) at UTSA's main campus. At around 20 members, we are growing rapidly and always on the lookout for new talent. Our work includes device prototyping, benchtop characterization, computational modeling, and in vivo experimentation. In addition to academic research, this lab focuses on clinical translation and is actively developing new intellectual property. We welcome new project ideas, collaborators, and student volunteers, so please don't hesitate to contact us.
