Electrophysiology (EP) Specialist
Dr. Alejandro Velasco is a cardiac electrophysiologist that currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health San Antonio. He joined UT Health after completing clinical fellowships at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, the University of Alabama in Birmingham and UT Southwestern.
Dr. Velasco main area of clinical expertise includes catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, as well as implantation of cardiac pacemakers, implantable defibrillators and left atrial appendage occlusion devices for stroke reduction.
His main areas of research include developing novel techniques to improve outcomes in catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, as well as studying the role of Chagas cardiomyopathy in the United States.
